After moving to England in 1987, she lectured to dyslexia support groups about the many problems encountered by dyslexic individuals and how best to help overcome them. Working in conjunction with Dr. Jo Westwood. Dip. Ed., Ed Psych., and Professor Peter Congdon, Educational Psychologist at Aston University, she was able to increase the general awareness of dyslexia and how best to address the problems. |
| She worked at Elton House School in Stourbridge – an independent day school for pupils with dyslexia. There she was responsible for the structured language work of all of the pupils. Pupils were taught both individually and in small groups. During this time Ann also worked at the state run Grange High School, being responsible for the statemented pupils, providing language work and classroom support and advising staff how to help pupils reach maximum potential from the classroom environment. She lectured to teachers about dyslexia and provided dyslexia workshops for In-Service Training Days. During this period Ann trained to perform diagnostic screening, using The Bangor Dyslexia Test and Aston Index Screening. |

In 1994 Elton House School relocated and Ann left to pursue a growing private practice of pupils whose parents did not want them to leave main stream schooling. Since then she has successfully tested adults and children, both from direct contacts and by referral from outside organisations. She has continued to tutor many of these individuals, offering them structured language work, study skills and help with the life skills encountered by dyslexic individuals, thus enabling them to reach their full educational and life potential. Many of these pupils have gone on to pursue university degrees and to lead full and economically active lives. |
| In private practice she has also trained interested adults and university graduates to teach pupils using the multi-sensory methods and to have a better understanding of dyslexia in their own teaching careers.
In addition to her private practice Ann also worked testing and teaching pupils with Specific Learning Difficulties in two of her local primary schools in Hednesford, Staffordshire (UK) Here, too, she advised teachers on how best to help the dyslexic child in the classroom.
Ann now lives in Portugal where she offers a complete internet service for testing, teaching and advising dyslexic people and she also produces the Dyslexia Teacher CD Rom learning program.
